To Cane or Not?

I came across this article To Cane or Not.. from The Straits Times

Kevin and I belong to "Traditional Parents" category.. we believe that Spare the rod and spoil the child.

Recently, we have met with behavioural issues from Dillion like e.g. not sharing his toys, snatching toys and throwing toys around. There was once he even ran away from us in crowded place which got us worried.

Naughty / Thinking corner does not work on him at home. If it was minor incident, we would forfeit his daily treats like e.g. He would not be allowed to watch his CD in the car or No water play during bath time or No reading time before sleep.

If its serious it would result in a cane smack (usually from his Daddy) back home. We would give him a choice of either volunteering his palm for 1 smack or get smacked 3 times on the leg.

I hope its always a lesson learnt for him as he do gets frighten at the sight of the cane and starts crying.
It always melt my heart whenever we hug him and explain to him the reason for the canning aftermath and he would tell us "Daddy and Mummy love Dillion"

Yes and I'm glad he knows it!

I read this article too. I'm the new age sort. We haven't bought a cane yet, but we've given time out a couple of times before. I hope I'll never ever need to buy a cane.
