Eating @Halal places..

Just to share my encounter..

We went to Pastamania at United Square for dinner after Dillion's GUG lesson.
I brought along D's macaroni in thermos and asked for a soup bowl from the service staff so that I can pour out the macaroni onto the bowl.

In the midst of feeding D, the manager came to me and ask if there is any meat in it. I was stunned for a moment. I just blurt out 'No.. only chicken'. He din say anything and walked away.

I'm terribly guilty! Because I used pork ribs as soup base. Furthermore this is a Halal restaurant which means no pork allowed and also I should not have use their bowl. Oh dear.. i know i committed a mistake and I seriously did not mean it as I did not occur to me that this is a halal restaurant. At least now I will be aware and not do it again.

I been bringing out cooked meals for Dillion lately as I don't want to be restricted to limited food choices if D were to share my meal.

So Mummies do take note when we are feeding our kids in halal eateries!

Hi there,

I was bloghopping and came across yr post on this. I'm a Malay/Muslim mom and being one, we'd expect all the utensils in halal eating outlets to be truly halal. It's quite similar in the case of some strict vegetarians who are really particular about using spoons/utensils which have not been used to scoop meat right?

Well, just don't let it happen again, please! There are reasons why we have to eat halal food on halal utensils. At least you feel guilty about it :S

Hi,

I was recently told off by KFC (Toa Payoh outlet) too on this. I was only feeding plain pasta (no soup stock, just hot water) and eating their chicken. The manager came to me and told me no outside food is allowed because KFC is a halal restaurant. But I am not even using their utensils. Will not be visiting that outlet anymore.
