MMR jab & assessment..

I brought Dillion for his long overdue MMR jab at his usual Paediatric Clinic yesterday.

Dr Wong did some assessment with D by giving him a book and ask him to point when she asked which is "Bird", "Dog", "Baby", "Ball" etc..
D refused to point even though I know he can recognise every thing she asked but he managed to name most of them.

He surprised me by saying new words - Bird and Baby clearly.

So I was advised to do more flashcards and reading with him and encouraged him to point at things.
Guess I had overlooked this area.. I will usually get him to name the items instead of asking him which is which.

Since D can say between 10-15 words.. he was given the green light for the jab.

Thankfully D co operate with me since Kevin was not with us. PD jab his bum with D in standing position and I distracted him by reciting "A-Z".

His weight and height assessment:
Weight: 10.79kg (increase 800gm)
Height: 83 cm

Finally a Certificate of Vaccination from Dr Wong:

We were told to safe keep this properly as we need this for D's enrolment to childcare/kindergarten.

18 month jab..

We brought Dillion for his 18th month booster jab the week before we left for our holiday.

His stats:
Weight: 10.1 kg
Height: 83cm

As usual his weight and height remains pathetically at 25 percentile and head circum at 75percentile.

PD asked if he had been eating well anot and why still not gaining weight??
I wished i have the answer too.. D is not eating as much as before as he is starting to pick on his food.

PD suggest to give small snacks/meals in between like banana smoothies, cheese etc.

His gross motor skills and language are fine.

He kept wanting to walk out of the consultation room.. guess he knows he will be poked. He let out a short 5 sec yelp after the needle went in.
When we were ready to go.. he waved said "BYE" to the PD for the first time which caught us by surprise!!
Seem like he can't wait to leave the room!

Chickenpox Jab

We brought D for his pox jab on Wed. We seem to be playing catching game on his jab schedule.. as he has not even taken his MMR jab (for 15mth old) jab yet.

His vital stats:
Weight: 9.6kg (+600gm) @25-50 percentile yipee!!
Height: 78-80 cm.. @50 percentile ..this fellow refused to be pinned down. Thus its agaration.
Head Circum: 48cm (75 percentile)

We were relieved that this 'eat anything under the sky' son of ours finally had a decent weight gain after being stagnant for past 6months.

PD did a series of tests on his motor skills. Sigh.. this fellow chose not perform to her expectations. He refuse to point out 'dog', 'cat' flashcards and figurines. Did not bother to stack up blocks instead he prefer to throw them away.
Said proudly 'Banana, Apple, Dada'.. much to our delight!

PD spent 20min assessing him before jabbing..D did not cry and we further discuss about MMR which she agrees with me in delaying as i told her my concerns on myths that MMR may cause Autism.. since D can only babble a few words.

So we will just go for 18mth jab and take MMR at 20-24mths.

Pneumococcal- 3rd jab

Kevin and I made an impromptu decision of bringing D for his injections since we are long overdue.
Here is us monkeying around at the clinic.. funny how the 3 of us are looking at different directions

Dillion was a trooper for he did not let out a whimper at all when Dr jab his bum! Even Dr Wong was amazed that he is her only patient that look so nonchalant after a jab.

Had a brief discussion with Dr Wong with regards to D not walking yet. She did a test by holding on to his arms but he refused to walk. She attribute it to laziness which i agree. As long as D is pulling himself up and cruising, we should not be worried.

Next issue is his weight.. We are very puzzled on why there is minimal weight gain for the past 6months with the fact that he is eating very well like an endless pit and we definitely feel the gain when we carry him just that its not showing on the scale :(. Only comfort is he had grown much taller!

His statistic:
Weight: 8.9kg (on 1st try)
9.1kg (on 2nd try)

Height: 80 cm

Pneumococcal- 2nd jab

We brought Dillion for his Pneu- 2nd jab @ PD clinic @bishan. It was a new PD so I dare not take photos as we aren't that familiar with her.

Anyway, Dr Wong is quite alright.. gentle and patient. This time, the lil' one did not even cry! I managed to distract him with a toy when he is on his tummy.. and jab was over before i knew it.

I'm disappointed that there is not much weight gain. He is now 8.8kg and 73.5cm long. Hiaz.. he is really a jiat liao bee.. i wonder where did all his food gone to? Perhaps dragging his body will burnt more fats than crawling? He is currently at 50 percentile..

Next jab: chicken pox in end May then Pneu- 3rd jab in end June

Pneumococcal Jab (1st dose)

We bought Dillion for his long overdue Pneumococcal jab at a new PD clinic in Bishan as i decided to stop patronising Dr Ong due to long waiting time.

Whilst the lady doc- Dr Oh was explaining to me about Pneumococcal, D sat on her table, looking very solemnly and scared and was observing the Doc. He seem to know what is going to happen.

Only until Doc lay him on the table and he saw the toys hanging above then he started smiling and kicking whilst Doc examine him externally. Everything is ok and functioning well.. Am so glad when Doc assure me that there is no squint in his eyes.

This fellow happily flip on to his tummy:

so Doc decided to jab on his bum instead of his thigh since he looks as if he was all prepared.

Dillion let out a short cry after the jab and stop after being distracted by a toy.

Anyhow, i'm pretty pleased with this PD and will consider going back to the clinic for future jabs. But this jab burnt a hole in Daddy's pocket- $230!!

Kind Doc gave me a tin of 400g of Enfapro. (i did not ask for it..) she understand that nowadays formula milk is not cheap.

Dillion now weigh 8.5kg and 71cm long. I was surprised that this time round the weight gain is so little only abt 0.3kg!! Doc assured me that its normal as their weight gain will slow down after 6months and furthermore they are more active.

All is well and Dr Ong gave us the green light to start D on semi-solids like cereal and porridge.
He also told us to add spinach, pumpkin, banana, apple blah blah.. we told him D had already eaten all that he mention. However Dr Ong say threadfin fish is to be given only after 7 month due to allergen. Luckily D had eaten them few weeks back and nothing happen.

Visit to PD- 5th Month

Bought Dillion for his long overdue 5th month jab.
He is weighing 7.7kg & 65cm long.

The photo of D & I gotta be small because can see my dark eye ring :(

First thing when Dr Ong saw his weight "Wow solid leh! Babies at 1yo is only abt 8-10kg".

This time Dr Ong was too fast for me to take a proper photo of the needle poking him

This time D did not make a whimper. This jab left me $100 poorer.

Visit to PD- 3rd Month

is weight : 6.27kg, 63cm long as at 5 Jul.
My boy cried for 5 sec after being jab on the thigh! i'm so proud of him.

But he was so tired that he slept quite a while when we went back. He developed mild fever the next day and looked restless. Quickly gave him paracetamol and went back to his normal self on Saturday.

Really pained to see him like this. Spending so much to see my child suffer

Visit to PD @1st Month

Dillion's growth:

Weight: 4.1kg, Length: 53cm. Head 37.8cm. His weight is in the 95th percentile.
Wow, i'm not really sure how did he grew from a light weight newbie to a heavyweight baby in a month's time.
For sure this is all due to Enfalac formula that fatten him.
