I read and heard much horror tales of kids being nebulised would end up crying their heads off.. and it happened to mine.
I brought Dillion back to his PD for his cough review as he completed dose of medicine.
There were still phlegm in his lungs which I think he is still unable to cough or spit them out.
My heart sank when the PD said "oh he has to use the NEBULISER now!"..
Nurse Rebecca did the nasty task..She was a feisty aunty and she grabbed hold of D and put the mask over his nose.
My poor boy struggled with all his might and screamed hysterically.. I stood helplessly looking at him because I was too stunned to react. It was a tussle between 2 adults and a kid.
I could not help Rebecca as D was too strong for us. She was telling me that in her 26 years of experience.. my boy is indeed a super strong kid!!
Its perfectly normal for them to cry when a mask is placed over their nose.. and it seemed that crying is better as it helps them to breath in the medication in the form of a mist.
In the end.. 3 of us were so tired that Rebecca took off the mask and let D sniff the tube which he did not protest as he was tired too.
Now we have to be more diligent in using the inhaler on D.. Hope my boy can recover first!!
