Oral Thrush..

Dillion was down with cold and the dreaded cough is back to haunt him again. He barely recovered form Cough a couple weeks ago and he caught the virus again from the school.

Since we are going on a short holiday trip this weekend.. so might as well bring him down to his PD for a check up.

So I brought him down to our regular PD on Tuesday. And was found to have Oral Thrush after examining his throat. He had white patches on his tongue and red patches on his gums

Gawd! I was shocked but then we were lucky that it was a mild case and was discovered early.
There are no causes as its very common as they like to put things into their mouth. The only signal or signs that shows was his dry and cracked lips for the past few days.

PD prescribed Oral Daktarin and was told to use my fingers to apply on his tongue and the inner gums.

And he was put on the nasal suction machine to clean his congested nose. My poor boy struggled and screamed 'Murder' whilst the nurse grabbed him tight. It pained me as much to see him cry for me to rescue me but its all for his own good so that he can have a good night sleep!

Review
I brought him to the PD again on Friday before we go for our holiday for a review of his Oral Thrush.
The thrush had subsided and was given the green light to travel! Yeah!

I was surprised that Dillion was very co operative to allow me to apply medication into his mouth which aided in his speedy recovery.

The PD did not charge me for consultation this time.. think it pays to be a regular patient! :)
