In March this year, she was hospitalised after suffering a stroke.. she was almost bedridden as her limbs were weak and need physio and a wheelchair. My entire clan went into frenzy as we make lots of adjustment such as having to visit her in hospital as often as could because my Gramp can be a kid at time, not liking the hospital environment and keep wanting to go home and having -ve thoughts that she may be spending the rest of the time on hospital bed till the end. And we also did a minor renovations to her house such that she need not climb up the steps to her bedroom.
She is a fiesty grand old dame. She lives on her own with a trusted helper and very independent and do things on her own before the stroke. So her children and grand and great grand children will congregate at her house every Sunday for dinner.
During March-May .. i did many hospital rounds and had to squeeze in my lunch hour to visit her .. and she was finally discharged in May, we were glad that she can now walk on her own but still need someone to hang on to incase she may fall.
So for her birthday this year, we did the celebration at home instead of eating out like we always do!
